1. Tell us about you! Who you married, where you live, how long you’ve been married, where did you go on a honeymoon, how many kids and ages if you want.
Hi ladies! I’m Dani 🙂 This is a recent picture of me and my family – my husband John (I’ve been married to him for 13 years, married 11/11/11) and our three kiddos – Adelaide (10 y.o.), Galilee (8 y.o.), and Judah (4 y.o.). We live in Fort Collins, CO and both John and I have been a part of fellowship at Summitview Church since our freshman year of college in 2004. Can I share something that has been such a gift to me in marriage this past year — last summer, John grew a longer hairstyle for me, and it has been the BEST! I feel so drawn to this punk-rocker/surfer-guy look on him.
2. What are your hobbies? How did you get started on them?
This past decade, I’ve gotten into running, and I love it! When I was a kid, I remember it feeling impossible to run the half mile we were required to run each year for gym class. Then I married John, who has always loved running, and I guess seeing him enjoy it so much must have won me over to giving it another try. I used the “Couch to 5K” program, starting with repeating a minute of jogging and then a minute of walking for 20 minutes, and then, over a few months, worked my way up to being able to run a few miles without walking. In 2017 John signed me up for my first race, a 5K (3 mile-er), and currently he’s been excited to keep us signed up for a 5K, 10K, and half marathon each year to keep us running.
3. Who has been an influential person in your life? Would you tell us about them?
Is there a possibility that I’ll be talking too much about John in here?? Oh well….I love him so much! He’s been my hero and a very influential figure in my life since 2009. That summer, I got to jump in on a trip he led to support our sister church in Utah. As I watched the gentle way he led the group, the way he led by example, the strength of his faith, the way he was led by the Spirit, his commitment to prayer and leading others to pray, the impact he made on the young men he was investing in, his eagerness and skill in sharing the gospel (…the list goes on; you get the idea 🙂 ) — I began thinking (and even saying out loud to my friends) “I want to be like John Larsen.” And I still feel that way about him, and I get to see his life up close and personal! He’s an amazing example of gospel-powered, Jesus-centered parenting! His humility, wisdom, and spiritual maturity impress me so much! I can’t believe I got to marry this guy! God is so kind.
4. What is something the Lord has been teaching you recently?
In my Bible times this summer, I’ve felt consistently directed to be looking for opportunities to boldly share my faith with some dear friends that my family has been growing close to over the past few years, and to have the Good News on my lips with others I come in contact with as well! This is a great lead-in to the next question…
5. What can we be praying for you this month?
Will you gals be praying that God will soften the hearts and open the eyes and ears of 2 specific families in our lives (let’s call them Z’s family and A’s family). Will you pray that God will give me boldness to offer to introduce each of them to Jesus and to invite them to come and follow Him? And please pray that each member in their families will receive Him as Lord and Savior (Z’s family – 2 parents, 3 kids; A’s family – 2 parents, 1 grandma, 3 kids).
Also, John and I could use LOTS of wisdom from God on how to parent these amazing (and very complex) kiddos He’s given us! Will you pray for us and for them? Thanks so much, ladies!!
Thank you so much for sharing Dani! For some reason, I can’t see the picture of you and your family. I’m excited to see John’s new haircut. 😁
How fun that you love running and can share that with your hubby, so cool!
Hi Dani! It was great to hear more about your world! That’s awesome that you have these opportunities to share with your friends! May God give them eyes to see and ears to hear. Loved your family photo, too!
Dani 😊
Thanks for sharing ♥️
It seems like just a few years ago you and John were newlyweds living in an apartment with Pat and I in Austin for the summer! God has done so much in both your hearts to produce a sweet marriage that brings you both joy!! Thankful for that and both your hearts to want/desire to grow in that deeper ❤️
Love you guys
What a beautiful family pic. And now you BOTH have fantastic hair! It’s a joy to read about your life and see your wholehearted devotion to the Lord. Press on, friends.
I agree with Jen on your gorgeous hair! You two are such an example of faith and joy in the Lord! Thanks for sharing, sister!
